Your gaming SSD could fail if you install this Windows 11 update, say reports

A new Windows 11 security update is reportedly causing some gaming SSDs to fail. That’s according to new reports online, which suggest that, following the installation of the KB5063878 security update, “large data writes” to certain SSDs is causing those drives to disappear, risking file corruption in the process.

Microsoft hasn’t publicly commented on this issue so far, but users are reporting it on social media following this recent Windows 11 update. A shortlist of drives from a number of major brands, including ones we’ve recommended in our best gaming SSD guide, such as Corsair, shows which SSDs have been affected by the bug.
