The Asus Xbox Ally X release date has just been confirmed, and we only have to wait until October. Both this handheld and the lower-spec Xbox Ally are currently out on the show floor at Gamescom, giving players a chance to try out the first Xbox-backed portable. While we finally have a release date, however, we still do not know how much these handhelds will cost.
We’ve been following the Xbox Ally X and its non-X counterpart closely since they were revealed during the Xbox Summer Showcase, and we recently had the chance to use one in our Hollow Knight Silksong preview. The latest AMD Ryzen Z2 chips will power the handhelds, so they have plenty of horsepower at their disposal. Whether or not either of these Asus devices can challenge the best gaming handheld picks in our buying guide remains to be seen, but price will be a big factor.
