Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launches on Steam today, bringing KOEI TECMO’s classic hack-and-slash action game to modern PCs with Unreal Engine 5 visuals. The remaster bundles both the original Dynasty Warriors 3 and the Xtreme Legends expansion, featuring more than 40 playable officers and numerous battlefields rebuilt from the ground up.
A Classic Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5
The original Dynasty Warriors 3, released in 2001, was the first game in the series to introduce mechanics that became franchise staples: True Musou Attacks, two-player simultaneous play, and the officer development system. It was also the first Dynasty Warriors title to sell over a million copies. The Xtreme Legends expansion added new stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo, and Yuan Shao, along with bodyguard customization, new weapons, and four challenge modes.
The Complete Edition Remastered brings all of this content together with modern graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5. The game supports 4K Ultra-HD, ultrawide monitors, HDR, and multiple upscaling features. Players can choose between fully customizable mouse and keyboard controls or multiple controller types.
Over 40 Officers, Massive Battlefields
Players can choose from more than 40 different officers in the Three Kingdoms setting, each with unique weapons, abilities, and playstyles. The core appeal remains the series’ signature 1 vs. 1,000 combat, where a single warrior carves through hundreds of enemies on sprawling battlefields. The remaster preserves the original’s tactical elements while updating the visual presentation for modern hardware.
Digital Deluxe Edition
A Digital Deluxe Edition is also available, bundling the base game with 42 retro costumes based on the original Dynasty Warriors 3, a Wind Scroll and Tiger Amulet for stat boosts, a Six Secret Teachings item for increased officer Merit gain, 42 weapons usable for fusion, and an Officer Concept Art Collection with producer commentary. Pre-order bonuses include a Retro-Style Red Hare Saddle that lets players ride Red Hare with its original PS2-era appearance.
Pricing and System Requirements
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is priced at $39.99 USD on Steam. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs more, with an upgrade option available separately. Minimum specs call for a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 5600 XT 6GB with 16 GB RAM and Windows 11, while recommended specs ask for an RTX 3060 8GB or RX 6700 XT 8GB. The game requires 60 GB of storage space and DirectX 12.
The remaster is available now on Steam. A demo featuring the Battle of Hulao Gate with six playable officers—Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, Zhen Ji, Zhou Yu, and Sun Shangxiang—is also available for those who want to try before buying.
