With its 1.0 release one week away, Enshrouded is handing players the keys to the kingdom. Keen Games has officially revealed Sparkworks, a new suite of creator tools that expands the survival RPG’s Adventure Sharing feature into a full-fledged creation platform for the full launch on October 15 on PC and PlayStation 5.
Announced from the studio’s Frankfurt offices, Sparkworks gives players the ability to design, build, and share their own adventures with the community, with Keen Games promising the tools will keep evolving based on player feedback after release.
Sparkworks Turns Shared Worlds Into Playable Ones
At its core, Sparkworks is the family of interactive functions players can use to make their worlds truly playable, not just viewable, for fellow Flameborn visiting through Adventure Sharing. The possibilities lean heavily into mini-game and dungeon design: a lever can spawn an enemy, a pressure-sensitive floor tile can open a secret hallway, and a room labeled “DO NOT ENTER, RISK OF EXPLOSION” can do exactly what the sign warns. Keen Games describes the feature as letting players become designers of their own mini-games, dungeons, or creative experiences within their version of Embervale.
Adventure Sharing, Explained
Adventure Sharing is Enshrouded’s in-game system for uploading a player’s rendition of Embervale for others to discover and visit. It first launched in the Forging the Path update this past April as a sightseeing-focused feature: players can browse Popular Adventures, filter by tags, track down specific worlds with Share Codes, and subscribe to their favorite creators to keep up with new uploads. Sparkworks grew directly out of that system, evolving it from a way to window-shop other players’ builds into a way to play inside them.
What Players Can Build at Launch
Keen Games outlined the core toolkit shipping with Enshrouded 1.0:
- Build Switchboxes throughout your world.
- Use the Sparkworks Tool to connect Switchboxes to trigger zones, levers, buttons, and other interactions, turning them into events or surprises.
- Chain in operators like clocks, blocks, and logic gates (NOT, OR, and more) to activate a desired outcome once a condition is met.
- Create outcomes such as environmental events like a lightning strike or a burst of running water, enemy spawns, or trap doors opening — the possibilities are virtually endless.
- Keep interactivity as simple or as complex as you want, from a single tripwire trap to a fully wired dungeon.
Adventure Sharing itself is also being updated ahead of launch, and Sparkworks will be part of the package from day one.
