Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Launches October 9 on Steam at $29.99 USD

Capcom has dated Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen for October 9, with the paid expansion arriving on Steam at $29.99 USD alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and a first-ever Nintendo Switch 2 release for the series. The Steam listing currently shows an October 8 unlock in US time zones, while Capcom’s official materials carry the global date of October 9.

The announcement comes from Capcom’s official press release and the expansion’s official site, which outline the first major add-on for Dragon’s Dogma 2 since the base game launched in March 2024. On PC, Dark Arisen sells as standalone DLC on Steam, though players will need the base Dragon’s Dogma 2 installed to play it. The Nintendo Switch 2 version packages the base game and the expansion together in a single release, marking the first time the series has appeared on a Nintendo platform.

The headline addition is Forsaken Dominion, a new region set in the snowy Far North. Norgan was once a prosperous corner of the kingdom of Vermund before it was abandoned for reasons lost to history, and the Arisen heads there alongside a traveler named Eir to uncover the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon. Unearthing and appraising forgotten relics along the way unlocks new weapons and skills, and the expansion keeps the pawn system at the center of the journey, with companions traveling alongside the Arisen as they push deeper into the ruins.

Back in the main game’s world, Lost Rites drops 12 dungeon challenges stocked with rare equipment once held by past Arisens. Capcom is also expanding the character creator with new hairstyles and tattoos for both the Arisen and their Pawns, giving players more ways to shape the look of their party before setting out.

Capcom frames Dark Arisen around three goals set after Dragon’s Dogma 2’s release: enhanced gameplay, expanded adventures, and value, with the series having sold more than 14 million units as of March 2026. Pre-orders include the Norgan Fashion Set and Northern Attire, though Capcom notes those items may also become available later. The expansion is an action RPG add-on that cannot be played without the base game, and it is scheduled to launch October 9 on Steam and consoles.
