EA and Maxis have released the next quality-of-life update for The Sims 4, arriving on 27 October 2026 for PC (1.129.39.1030), Mac (1.129.39.1230) and Console (2.40). Billed by the studio as an “Order Up!” release, the patch turns its attention to food, dining and drinks, touching everything from restaurant outings to the meals Sims cook at home.

The headline number is bug fixes: the update ships with more than 150 of them, over 25 of which target the Dine Out game pack, the expansion built around running and eating at restaurants. EA has also bundled 14 new crash and stability improvements, aiming to improve overall stability across PC, Mac and console.

Sims who want a fresh look will find free Create a Sim additions in the update, including Elder-themed hairstyles and outfits, alongside vintage Build Mode items for a more classic home. Four new Styled Looks and a ready-made Styled Room round out the cosmetic additions, giving players a quick way to refresh both their households and their lots.

Under the hood, the update changes how Sims change over time. New Game Options, plus Sim self-interactions, let players enable or disable muscle and weight changes either globally or for individual Sims, so a household’s story can stay exactly as scripted. The patch also rebalances food and drink pricing and calories, and expands Family Recipes to more than 375 dishes, giving cooking-oriented players a much deeper recipe pool to work through.

Together, the changes put a clear emphasis on everyday meals. Dine Out receives more than 25 of the patch’s fixes, Family Recipes grows beyond 375 dishes, food and drink pricing and calories are rebalanced, and the new muscle and weight controls give players direct say over how their Sims’ bodies change.

Players can find The Sims 4 on Steam (App ID 1222670), where it is listed as free to play, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. For the full breakdown of every fix and addition, see the official EA announcement.

Lena Nakamura begins every review with one question: what is this game doing that nobody else would attempt? She covers roguelikes, narrative experiments, striking art direction, and games willing to risk failure in pursuit of something original. Familiar ideas do not bother her, but safe execution does. If a game is beautiful, strange, and slightly impossible to explain, Lena is already interested.
