Bandai Namco has released a substantial new expansion for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO on Steam. The Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, which launched on July 29, adds roughly 30 playable characters, four new battle stages, about 20 customization items, and an entirely new Solo Mode to the arena fighter.

Among the newcomers, several fighters are making their Budokai Tenkaichi debut for the first time. Super 17, Bardock in his Super Saiyan form, Champa, and Vegeta from the GT timeline all join the roster, expanding the roster well beyond the base game’s already impressive lineup. The DLC also includes a batch of costumes and Super Attacks that let players recreate iconic scenes from the anime series or customize their preferred fighters with new ultimate techniques.

The four new stages include Kami’s Lookout and Planet Vegeta, both drawn from memorable moments in Dragon Ball lore. Kami’s Lookout served as a training ground throughout the series, while Planet Vegeta is where Bardock made his final stand against Frieza’s forces. These additions give online and local matches a fresh backdrop for the game’s high-speed battles.

Perhaps the most interesting addition is the new Solo Mode, which introduces a character progression system. Players select a destination on a map and work through battles and events at each location to earn experience points and unlock Battle Arts, special abilities that can be equipped to customize a fighter’s playstyle. Characters trained in Solo Mode carry their progress into Player Matches and offline battles, giving the mode genuine replay value beyond a simple story walkthrough.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO launched in October 2024 to strong reviews, with the base game praised for its faithful recreation of the Budokai Tenkaichi formula. The Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC is priced at $34.99 on Steam and requires the base game to play. It is currently available on the Steam store with full controller support and English and Japanese voice acting.

For Steam players who have been waiting for fresh content, this expansion delivers a meaningful amount of new characters and mechanics without requiring a separate purchase beyond the DLC itself. The Solo Mode progression system is a welcome addition that gives single-player fans more reason to keep playing after clearing the base game’s content.
