Control Resonant Post-Launch Plans Add New Game++ and Photo Mode

Remedy Entertainment has outlined its initial post-launch plans for Control Resonant, just two days after the action RPG hit Steam with a strong debut of over 34,000 concurrent players. The studio shared a community update on September 25 detailing what players can expect in the months ahead.

The biggest addition on the roadmap is New Game Plus Plus, planned for an October release. The current New Game Plus mode allows players to complete the game one additional time after finishing the main story, but New Game++ removes that restriction entirely. Players will be able to restart another NG+ run without losing their existing progress, making it possible to replay Dylan Faden’s paranatural journey as many times as they wish with all accumulated upgrades intact.

A Photo Mode is also in development and expected to arrive in November. Remedy said the team has been working on the feature for some time and consulted virtual photographers from the community during its development. The feature was held back from launch so the studio could prioritize the overall state of the game at release, a decision that appears to have paid off given the smooth launch window.

Additional cosmetic items for protagonist Dylan Faden are also planned for future updates. Remedy confirmed these will arrive alongside the larger content drops, with more details to be shared closer to their release.

The post-launch roadmap arrives alongside hotfix 1.3.3, which shipped on launch day to address immediate player feedback. The patch adjusted enemy health pools, stagger thresholds (referred to as “Falter” in-game), and Dylan’s early combat output after reviewers and players noted that early enemies felt too tanky. The rapid response drew praise from the community and highlighted Remedy’s commitment to iterating quickly based on feedback.

Control Resonant’s Steam debut has been notably strong. According to SteamDB data, the game reached a 24-hour peak of 34,345 concurrent players on launch day, significantly surpassing the original Control’s all-time Steam peak of 9,193 players following its 2020 release. The game also crossed 2 million wishlists across all platforms before launch, signaling strong interest in Remedy’s connected universe.

Control Resonant is available now on PC via Steam for $59.99 USD, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

She covers roguelikes, narrative experiments, striking art direction, and games willing to risk failure in pursuit of something original. Familiar ideas do not bother her, but safe execution does. If a game is beautiful, strange, and slightly impossible to explain, Lena is already interested.
