Rebel Wolves has announced the first major post-launch patch for The Blood of Dawnwalker, set to arrive in early October. The update will introduce a new, easier Story difficulty mode alongside significant combat and movement improvements.
Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz revealed the details in a recent interview with Eurogamer, explaining that the current Story mode will be renamed to “Demanding” while a new, even more accessible Story mode will take its place. “We will introduce an additional difficulty level, but an easier one, because many people are asking for a more easy difficulty,” Tomaszkiewicz said.
The patch will also address one of the game’s most common complaints: clunky escape mechanics. Players have reported getting caught on environmental geometry when trying to flee from tough encounters. “Right now we’re doing the fix where when you run or escape, you will ignore the nav mesh and it will be fluid — it will not be clunky,” Tomaszkiewicz explained. “We’re working on escaping from combat and running in combat and it will be a big change for people.”
Combat camera behavior is also being adjusted. Currently, using a stun ability automatically switches the camera lock to a different enemy — a design choice that has frustrated some players. Post-patch, players will need to hit a stunned enemy three times to remove the stun, giving more control over target selection. However, Tomaszkiewicz noted this change may be temporary depending on community feedback.
Performance improvements for PC are also in the works, though Tomaszkiewicz acknowledged the challenge of optimizing for the platform’s vast hardware combinations. “When you see that the game works well — over 60 FPS — but people still complain that it’s not 120, but 90 or 70… It’s like, I understand that but the game is about something else,” he said. “But people want to have good performance or performance above good: it’s fine. We’re working on it and we will still work on it.”
A New Game Plus mode is also being considered, potentially featuring new enemy types for added variety, though Tomaszkiewicz declined to share specifics. “There is a chance but I don’t want to speak about it yet,” he said. “We will have the proper beats with our publishing team and if I tell you more, they will kill me.”
The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is available on Steam for $69.99 USD.
