Creative Assembly and SEGA have launched Lords of the End Times, the largest expansion in the decade-long history of the Total War: Warhammer franchise. Released on September 24 alongside a massive free Update 9.0, the DLC introduces four new Legendary Lords to the Immortal Empires sandbox and marks a first for the series: purchasing any part of the bundle grants standalone access to Immortal Empires without owning any of the base trilogy titles.
The expansion’s headline act is Nagash, the Supreme Lord of Necromancy, whose campaign revolves around erecting necropolises, draining life from surrounding lands, and raising armies from across all undead rosters u2014 including Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, and Vampire Coast units. On the battlefield, Nagash wields the new Lore of Undeath and can recruit from the complete range of undead factions, making his armies uniquely flexible. His DLC pack also includes Legendary Heroes Dieter Helsnicht and Walach Harkon, plus new elite units.
Alongside Nagash, three other Legendary Lords bring distinct playstyles. Thanquol, the Skaven Grey Seer, rides into battle atop Boneripper and commands a Masterplans mechanic that lets players orchestrate elaborate military, magical, or economic schemes across rival territories. The Glottkin u2014 three corrupted Nurgle champions who fight as a single monstrous combatant u2014 spread Gardens of Corruption to create recruitment hubs for daemonic units while combining brute force with foul sorcery. Boris Todbringer, the Empire’s Elector Count of Middenland, rebuilds the Great Temple of Ulric and unlocks powerful Middenland units devoted to the wolf god.
The Lords of the End Times bundle is available for $30.56 USD on Steam with a 15% discount, or each lord can be purchased individually for $8.99 USD. The bundle includes over 50 new units, Legendary Heroes, and unique campaign mechanics for each lord.
Update 9.0, available free to all Total War: WARHAMMER III owners, adds Neferata, the Vampire Queen, who uses secret covens to manipulate rival factions from the shadows. The update also reworks the Vampire Counts and Archaon the Everchosen, introduces three new end-game scenarios inspired by Warhammer’s apocalyptic events, and overhauls victory conditions for every legacy Legendary Lord. Creative Assembly describes it as one of the biggest free updates in the game’s history.
