GoldenEye Fans, THIS Is Not a Drill — Agent 64 Spies Finally Has a Release Date and Big Heads Mode

You guys. YOU GUYS. After five and a half years of waiting, Agent 64: Spies Never Die finally has a locked release date and I am absolutely losing it right now. August 11th. Put it in your calendars. Tattoo it on your arm. I don’t care what you have to do.

For those of you who somehow missed this absolute gem of a throwback, Agent 64 is a GoldenEye-inspired first-person shooter from solo developer Replicant D6 and it is everything we’ve been craving. You play as spy John Walter — yes, that’s his actual name and it’s perfect — and your mission is to stop the evil Dominic Pulp from, you guessed it, taking over the world. Classic spy stuff, no notes.

But here’s where it gets REALLY good. The game ships with 14 missions that you can blast through solo or drag your friends into via split-screen or online co-op. SPLIT-SCREEN, people. In 2026! I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that. Remember when couch co-op was just… normal? Agent 64 remembers.

Once you’ve finished the main campaign, there’s a paradox mode that unlocks through challenges — and this is where things get properly chaotic. We’re talking big heads mode, a melee slap option, and a complete ban on reloading. It’s like someone looked at every cheat code from GoldenEye 007 and said “what if we made these an entire game mode?”

And the multiplayer? Up to 8 players plus 8 bots in arena battles. You’ve got your standard deathmatch, briefcase capture, zone control, the works. Plus score challenges against bots that unlock new maps, characters, and music tracks. The content here is absolutely stacked for a solo dev project.

What really gets me is the vibe though. This game has been in development since 2021 and you can feel the love in every pixel. The demo has been on Steam for ages and the community has been buzzing. The developers said the five and a half year journey has been “grueling” but they’re making sure it’s worth the wait. And honestly? Based on everything I’ve seen? I believe them.

If you’re a GoldenEye kid who grew up arguing with your mates about who kept screen-cheating, this is your moment. Agent 64: Spies Never Die drops August 11th on Steam. Go wishlist it right now. I’ll wait.
