Crimson Desert’s Charting the Unknown DLC Is Now Live on Steam with New Quests

Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert‘s DLC Charting the Unknown officially launched on Steam on October 29, 2026, and the studio asked players to update to the latest game version before playing so the base game and the DLC work as intended. The official announcement frames the release as the beginning of a longer voyage beyond the familiar coastline.

Per the official Steam page, the DLC extends the adventure beyond Pywel’s shores. Players take command of a ship and sail across the ocean to explore new islands off the coast, then dive beneath the waves to uncover underwater treasures, sunken ruins, and hidden mysteries. It is a maritime expansion in both theme and structure, giving the open world a genuinely new layer to chart.

The version 2.04.00 patch notes, rolled out on the Steam PC version alongside the DLC, detail what arrived at launch. Each of Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane received one new quest, unlocked after completing the main-story quest “Journey’s End,” while a new ocean quest titled “A Wider World” opens up the sea itself. Diving gets a practical upgrade too: the underwater breath gauge was raised by refining the diving suit, and ships can now be constructed via dispatch mission or purchased from fleetmasters.

Pearl Abyss has kept supporting the expansion since release. The version 2.04.05 patch notes, released November 1, 2026, fixed a crash during the battle against Ravok of the Savage Fangs and several quest-blocking issues, including Damiane’s quest “End and Beginning” and Kliff’s quest “Beyond the Margins.” The version 2.04.04 notes, also released November 1, 2026, resolved an issue where key-item equipment would be unequipped and duplicated in the inventory, an issue where farm-registered livestock could disappear, and Korean text in the Gift UI.

With the base game update and the DLC now live together, Charting the Unknown has the foundation it needs to set sail. Players who update first and then push off should find a smoother voyage across Pywel’s waters and a clearer path to the mysteries waiting underneath them.
