STAR WARS: Galactic Racer launches October 6 on Steam at $59.99 USD, bringing the first new Star Wars racing game since 2002 to PC and consoles. Developer Fuse Games, founded by former Criterion and Need for Speed veterans, is delivering a runs-based anti-gravity racer built on Unreal Engine 5.
The game is set in the lawless Outer Rim after the fall of the Empire. With the New Republic struggling to rebuild, an underground racing circuit called the Galactic League has emerged, where syndicates sponsor pilots and fortunes are won and lost in seconds. Players take on the role of Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory across varied circuits.
Racers pilot four distinct classes of repulsorcraft: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers. Each class features unique physics and playstyles, from the heavy-hitting landspeeders to the nimble speeder bikes. The runs-based structure means every race carries real stakes, with strategic PvP grudge matches available alongside the story-driven solo campaign.
Players can customize their ride with cosmetic options that showcase their style while gaining a competitive edge. Slam, shunt, and takedown rivals across circuits set across the Star Wars galaxy. The greater the risk, the greater the reward in this high-stakes racing experience.
The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99 USD on Steam, with Deluxe and Collector’s editions also available for pre-order. Pre-order bonuses include an exclusive livery for your repulsorcraft and a special player banner for multiplayer modes.
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops at launch, delivering enhanced performance and visual fidelity. The game was first revealed at The Game Awards 2025 and has since gone gold ahead of its October 6 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game represents a spiritual successor to the classic Star Wars Episode I: Racer, combining the franchise’s iconic racing heritage with modern roguelite mechanics and competitive multiplayer. With its runs-based structure and diverse craft options, Galactic Racer aims to deliver a fresh take on anti-gravity racing in the Star Wars universe.
