Company of Heroes 3 players are getting the game’s most ambitious update yet. Update 3.0 launches November 5, 2026 on PC via Steam, and developer Relic Entertainment describes it as the biggest update to the game since launch. It arrives as part of the ongoing celebration of the Company of Heroes franchise’s 20th Anniversary. The full rundown is live in the official Update 3.0 Mission Briefing announcement.
The headline addition is a sweeping environmental and visual overhaul. New winter, autumn and industrial environments change the look of the battlefield, while snow and rain weather effects and dynamic terrain wetness that transitions between dry and wet conditions add atmosphere and variety. Enhanced soldier lighting improves readability, and improved atmospheric fog, smoke, bloom and emissive effects round out the refresh.
Maps are a major focus as well. Update 3.0 introduces four new battlegrounds: Vire River Valley for 2vs2, Foggia Winter for 3vs3, Turin Steelworks for 4vs4 and Radarstation Mammut for 4vs4. They arrive alongside refreshed versions of Langres Winter, Mignano Summit Winter and Rapido River Crossing.
Final Stand also receives a substantial content update. Up to three players can now team up in co-operative play, with enemy events scaling in magnitude based on player count. A new Dam Busters Battleground joins the rotation, and players gain additional unit unlocks, new passive technologies and new ability unlocks.
Campaign players benefit from improvements to the Italian Dynamic Campaign, including clearer neutral lighting for better readability on the campaign map and revisited lighting, dressing and atmosphere across all campaign missions. On the multiplayer side, Relic highlights a major economy rework, an artillery rebalance, a reduction in massing vehicles and a stronger emphasis on positioning, plus a substantial balance pass across factions and units. A.I. logic has also been reworked so the computer judges unit strength and evaluates fights more realistically.
Audio and effects are not being left behind: weapon firing sounds, impact and explosion audio and vehicle destruction audio have all been improved, and the music selection expands with classic tracks from Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes 2.
Company of Heroes 3 bundles two campaigns and four multiplayer and co-op factions set across the North Africa and Italy theatres. Newcomers can find the game on the Company of Heroes 3 Steam page, and returning commanders can read the complete Update 3.0 Mission Briefing for the finer details.

She covers roguelikes, narrative experiments, striking art direction, and games willing to risk failure in pursuit of something original. Familiar ideas do not bother her, but safe execution does. If a game is beautiful, strange, and slightly impossible to explain, Lena is already interested.
