Jagex has officially launched RuneScape: Dragonwilds into version 1.0 on Steam, marking the end of its Early Access period and the beginning of a new chapter for the RuneScape franchise on PC. The co-operative survival adventure debuted on September 15, 2026, at $29.99 USD, and has already racked up over 28,000 reviews with a “Very Positive” rating on the platform.
Dragonwilds has been in Early Access since April 15, 2025, giving Jagex roughly 17 months of community-driven development before today’s full release. During that window the studio reshaped the game based on player feedback, adding dedicated servers ahead of schedule, reworking the combat system, and expanding quest content across the hand-crafted continent of Ashenfall.
What Changed in the 1.0 Launch
The 1.0 update brings the full progression loop that Dragonwilds spent Early Access refining. Players explore a new continent steeped in RuneScape lore, leveling skills that unlock unique abilities and spells. Combat centres on battling iconic creatures like Zogres and Black Knights, as well as the newly introduced Garou, while the overarching threat of the Dragon Queen drives the narrative forward.
Jagex has leaned heavily into the co-operative angle. Up to four players can team up to tackle quests, build bases, and take on the game’s toughest encounters. The studio’s decision to introduce dedicated servers earlier than originally planned signals how central multiplayer has become to the experience.
The game also features a crafting and survival layer that sits alongside traditional RuneScape skill progression. Players gather resources, brew potions, and forge gear using an Anima-powered magic system that lets you summon spectral axes, blink away from danger, or conjure a tornado of fish from a nearby lake.
How It’s Performing on Steam
With an estimated 500,000 to 1,000,000 owners and over 28,000 reviews to date, Dragonwilds has found a solid audience on Steam. The “Very Positive” rating, sitting at roughly 81 percent positive, suggests the Early Access period paid off in polish and community trust. The game supports 11 languages including full audio in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish, broadening its reach beyond the traditional RuneScape fanbase.
Minimum system requirements call for a GTX 1060 or RX 5600XT with 8 GB of RAM, making it accessible to a wide range of PC hardware. You can find RuneScape: Dragonwilds on its Steam store page.
